I’ve tested more than 20 different dress shoes over the last few years, but Cole Haan has never really failed me. The brand makes some of the most comfortable dress shoes I’ve worn thus far, and this pair falls in line. There’s foam cushioning underfoot that isn’t overly squishy, but gives me enough support that I can run back and forth across a photo shoot set for eight hours without feeling the brunt of it all. And considering how unforgiving New York City sidewalks can be, that says a lot. The leather upper has a laser-cut wingtip pattern that feels like a new take on the classic brogue detailing.
It’s also surprisingly flexible right out of the box, so I didn’t have to deal with that stiff break-in period I’ve experienced with other dress shoes. To me, it hits that middle ground between a traditional dress shoe and a dress sneaker, which means I can wear it with a suit, chinos, or even business-casual outfits. This style also comes in both leather and suede. Just keep in mind that it runs large, so I’d recommend sizing down a half size.
